Cora's Bed

I made this sunflower quilt with paper, the way Doreen made one on ,http://doreensprojects.blogspot.com/

I found a piece of fabric, online, made it into a full page and crunched it up

I really like the look, the cost is minimal and I could change it quite often if I wished

The sheets and pillow are fabric

I need to add perhaps some ribbon to the pillow and the bed just had to be lemon

I carved the bed posts tops from Balsa which I do not particually like but that was all I had on hand

so over all I think it looks fine!

Footstool

I thought I might try to make a foot stool out of a cotton reel, my friend gave me this reel it would have been better to work with had it been wood but I cut it quite well anyway! I then added some card to the bottom

Then glued some wadding on top

I would have liked to have a small print felt but had to use fabric instead which is a little harder to get flat

I will make another often my second attempt is better than the first

I then added some wooden beads to the base

Not bad at all, will be better the next one!

Getting there

Well! I finally finished pulling off the wallpaper bricks and painting with the red Suede paint, I am much happier with the finish now

I don't think I have a roof cut out yet, But would be a good idea to see if it is in the cutout pile out in the back shed

I may get to that tomorrow with any luck!

I have also finished the floor of the attic

and painted the first grey wash on the slate tiles

Little Jugs

Little cupboard

I decided top pull apart a Michaels Hutch today and make it into a little shelf unit for Cora's house ( I saw the one Grahinza made and thought I could do that so here it is)

It does look unfinished so I will try to paint some flowers on it near the heart tommorow

I also pulled off the brick paper from the house I wasn't happy with it, as it was joined in the middle and it just wasn't sitting right !

As a dollhouse shop is miles away from me, I need to work out what to do instead and I thought maybe paint with Suede paint it , Cora has said it has to be red..... so I guess that is what it will be......

Here is a pcture of the other half house I painted with suede paint this one I gave as a prize at our BMEA Open day last year

Canisters

I thought I m ight make some Canisters today so I found some labels that I resized in paint and printed out


I found the dowel and made a cut around the top to look like a lid should have not bothered as one cannot see it!
And proceeded to make them up after I painted the top and the bottom of the canister

I couldn't find anywhere to put the Canisters in the house!
so I microwaved the hutch and pulled it apart repainted it and set them on the top, mmm I need another one of these cupboard bottoms I think
I will use to top half of the Hutch on the back wall later, OH I used a pin head for the lid cut off the pin piece and glued on

OO Now I see I must finish the skirtings


BTW: if anyone would like the labels I could email them to you! just let me know, they are quite cute

The new Mattress

I had made this new mattress for the larger block bed when I decided not to use it...

well look where it has gone to now

I see Fergus is sound asleep they must have picked those bits of fabric up out of my open drawer, I keep loosing things around here I now know to go check those Mill boys

Fergus

I was looking everywhere for the Iron bed and searched for ages till I heard some grunting coming from the Mill and this is what I found!

He has the room all cleaned out ready for the bed! That room is supposed to be the office, I can see his trunk is already in there!

Curtains

I made these curtains from paper

This morning this is what I found, Cora trying to put them up in her room and I see the bed that Fergus took to, I need to make another bed now as the bigger one won't fit as you can see here no room for Coras bedside or bits and bobs, so back to the drawing board!

Fergus and James

I turn my back for 1 minute, I heard some scrapping noises
I came back to check and look what I found
I asked what they were doing

"Im teaching Fergus how to read" James said, "he needs to learn to do the books at the Mill"
I almost burst out laughing, when Fergus turned to me with a smug look! lol
"Your are not supposed to be in Coras house and her chairs and all!" I told them
"We won't be long we just had to try these chairs out" Fergus informed me!
I don't know what Cora will say when she finds out!

Front path

I used the spakle for this, you buy it in a tub!I think this will be fine.

I was going to do them with egg carton but when i thought about it

Why take all that time, this will be much easier

The Half House

I seem to get the way to build a dollhouse all messed up!

The floor was in before I finished painting BAD mistake!!!

Chairs

I have always wanted to make some lounge chairs so here is the result

I am not really happy with them they are all puckered at the back and the seat was supposed to go down on the bottom edge but my little folk sem to disappear in them, and it looked silly so I did them this way!

I am sure the pattern is wrong though as the wadding pattern was half way up the chair......need to find a new pattern I think

Quilt

Well I found 2 patterns I liked and made up 2 quilts with paper and crunched them, I forgot to spray this pink one...derrrrrr

I was following Doreens tutorial, thought I knew what I was doing! not!!!

This one turned out better I did actually spray this with the matt sealer, so it looks really nice

Now I need to go make a bed today to put it on and some pillows!

The Mill

Fergus came over to say Hi and saw the bed! "This would do me fine" He said. I explained it was for Cora and I popped it in the half house

Next thing I heard was quite a loud snore coming from the half house and look what I found and with the new quilt as well!!!

I can see this is going to be a problem

Shawl

I have been trying to knit a lacy shawl from the book "Dollshouse Needlecrafts" by Venus Dodge and having so much trouble seeing it!

May be it's the cotton I am using.... DMC 80 thread

Would anyone have any suggestions about the type of thread to use, that may be better?

Quilt

I also found this piece tucked right under some other fabrics and I decided to try it, Im still woking on it!

Wilma & Theo

Oh there is Wilma and Theo already out the front veranda

That must be a new maid coming for her interview with Charlotte

Wilma Loves her tulips and comes down every morning to see how they are getting along.

Theo has to come along as well, those 2 cannot be separated they have to be together all the time, don't you just love that! How sweet they are

Penelope

Then I heard Penelope calling me!

"Now you leave that favourite chair of mine, right where I put it dear, I want to go sit in it and chat to Theo and Wilma this morning!"

Then I had a good look around the veranda and this is what I saw

Mmm she must have asked Edwin the butler to bring it down for her during the night!

"Im looking in my trunk dear, I couldn't sleep very well last night, I just kept thinking about this trunk and I wanted to make sure it was OK!
And then I saw a box of photos I wanted to have another look at"

Well this is what I woke to find this morning is it?

Now where is Penelope her mind wanders a bit she used to own the Milinery shop but her daughter has taken over that now, so she has a few hats around the place

I wonder where she has gone to?

I can still hear Penelope talking away!
I had to sneak to get away from her I thought she was tired lol!

"Now I have another trunk, would you like to send that one as well ...Oh dear the grand children have been up here again leaving all my cards spread all over the place, will you pick those up please, dear!"

"No thanks, Penelope, it is getting really late now you should be tucked up in your bed, the water bottle will be cold now" I said!!!

Now I wonder can Tessie see as well, dear"

How does she know about Tessie I wonder, mmm she must be watching what I write in the digest I think

Penelope's Trunk

Oh dear! we have started something now Casey!!!! Penelope wants to know

"Do you think Casey would be interested in my trunk you made?" Im not too sure about that I told her

"Oh she might be interested in my wedding hat and Oh I have some photos of my dear departed husband and some books now let me see"

Oh I wish I didn't disturb her now I will never get away! lol

Penelope's Quilt

I took a bit closer photo! she wasn't really too happy but she said.....

"Oh my goodness you caught me, my room is in a mess right now, I do love the quilt though, I am very pleased to be able to show Casey my quilt"

A quilt

I just caught Penelope getting herself ready for bed... oops!!!

"Oh Dear what are you doing here this late" she was quite startled!

"The quilt is turned back dear" she said,"It is too hot for the quilt tonight"

Oh really!!!!! I thought, look at her water bottle there already heated ready to pop in her bed lol

A Quilt

This is a small quilt I made a few years ago using the paper method

I only made 1 it takes a long time!

Im quite lazy these days I just print them out of paper

I know it isn't as nice as one made by oneself but here it is
